Millesgården celebrates its 100th birthday! The artist's home, which is the foundation of the museum that is Millesgården today, was constructed in 1908. We want to celebrate this special occasion with Lidingö's local inhabitants, people from Greater Stockholm, and national and international tourists, namely, with everyone who visits Millesgården.
The celebration will be seen, heard and felt in every part of the museum area, from the artist's home to the park, the garden and the art gallery.

My Millesgården
We intend to invite Lidingö personalities, such as municipal politicians, artists, business people, teachers, members of the clergy and others, to act as guides at Millesgården. The guides will design their own tours. They may be well-versed on or know very little about the works at Millesgården. We will encourage them to give free rein to their imaginations they may wax rhapsodic, free-associate or refer to other things. In fact, if they want to sing their way through the tour, they can do that too.
We would like our first guest guide to be Paul Lindquist, chair of the municipal executive board.
Millesgården all over Lidingö
A number of pre-school and elementary school classes will be invited to take part in the fountain project. Those who visit Millesgården for inspiration will see all sorts of fountains, with running, gushing, spraying and rippling water. Once back in their classrooms, the students will use simple tools to build fountains on their playgrounds. A hole is covered with plastic and filled with water. A pump with a nozzle sprays out water.
The children create environments around the fountains. They can use their imaginations to build, cast, and cut out figures for their fountain.
Concerts featuring music from Carl Milles record collection
Pianist David Wärn has already selected some pieces and will be responsible for this project.
Mini-guides at Millesgården
We want to invite school-aged children to participate in mini-guide training at Millesgården. They will receive a diploma and two free tickets so that they can return and act as guides for their parents.
